J-Summit at Webster Hall Thoughts

Bookmark and Share

Hey all, I got a chance to check out J-Summit at Webster Hall this past May 15th. I managed to check out two of the five bands performing that night, Typherus & Lilac .

This was actually my first time seeing Typherus live. I have to say, they are quite an interesting group. The singer, Le-ak, even sang in Cantonese! Their music got a small crowd at the front pumped up. Good opening act for what it was worth.

Lilac was up next and they were pretty good. I got to see the new guitarist, Gabriel, & drummer, Chacha, for the first time. Chacha was pretty good. Toshi acted pretty playful, winking at all his admirers. Lilac did some of their hits, like “Feel” & “Realize”, along with some new stuff like the song “That Night”. Their music is very reminiscent of Western rock. That’s probably why I like them in the first place.

It was a good event with a decent turnout. People were hanging out, kicking back, and listening to some good music. The next J-Summit looks to be very interesting with Lilac (again), VY, Gelatine, & Go Takeuchi.

Here are some photos I took from the event.

There are more photos on our Facebook page, which you can view here. The next J-Summit event will on June 6th at Webster Hall.
